Alanna Smith had set the CT state record of 6.95 four days earlier at Eastern States and came into the action with by far the best seed time at 7.01. After getting everything set up with a speedy 7.15 in prelims, Smith was not closely challenged in the finals as she captured her first gold of the day with a 7.03. Sophomore Makenna Drouin's silver was a lot more unexpected as she came in seeded 20th after a 5th in the ME Class A state championship. But after a huge PR in prelims, Drouin knocked off another big chunk in finals as she roared to a 2nd place finish. Nyasia Dailey was 5th in prelims but moved up to in finals to capture the bronze.

Smith continued her big day by capturing her second gold with a time that matched the meet and CT state record set by Precious Holmes ten years earlier. Smith was strongly challenged in this race as she won a battle with Anna Connors for the inside lane at the break. MA state champ Kylee Bernard also went sub 40.00 as she collected the bronze with a 39.61 PR.

CT champ Brittani Westberry hung a little ways back of Lusby and got a huge PR for 2nd. VT champ Ruth Brueckner knocked more than two seconds off her PR to go under 1:37 for the bronze.

Jodi Parrott had gotten upset in the MA state championship in a three-way photo finish, but she dominated the 55H in both prelims and finals and pushed her PR way down with a 8.21 in finals.
