For 10 years, athletes have made their way to Danbury to put up fast times without the pressure of scoring points for their teams. The Dream Invitational began as a way for local teams to push each other to national qualifying performances when they are beginning to get into shape.
This year Danbury coach Rob Murray has once again assembled fields in several events that should produce the fastest times of the season and make their way into the national rankings.
There is an old maxim in track to "take speed and move it up." Well three of the best 800m runners in the 
nation will move up to the mile. Trumbull's Gleen and Danbury's Terrell Cunningham will face off against Connecticut cross country champ Zakeer Ahmed of Staples. Gleen and Cunningham bring 1:51 and 1:54 times into the race, while Ahmed won last week's Loucks Games with a sub 9 minute 3200m.
On the girls' side, Emily Philippides of Greenwich was an All American in the 800m and 4 x 800m this winter and recently ran a 2:10 800m is also moving up to the mile and will face Daniel Marcone who ran a 5:07 split for Immaculate in their 4 x 1600m at O'Gradys.
Also expected to compete will be Bloomfield's Brittany Jones in the hammer against her rival Southington's Amanda Howe. Jones recently set the Connecticut state record in the event with a 163ft throw and is ranked number 31st in the country. Howe has made some great improvements this season and is only 11ft behind Jones.
