On Tuesday the CCC met at Wickham Park in Manchester for their 2022 Cross Country Championship.  In 2021 Hall boys and Glastonbury girls were able to win team titles and both were able to successfully defend their team titles with even lower scores than a year ago.

Individually on the girls side Newington junior Katherine Bohlke was able to improve from a 5th place finish a year ago to run away from the field winning in 19:12 ahead of Gabriella Hernandez (E.O. Smith) who ran 19:48 and Kelley MacElhiney (Glastonbury) who ran 20:02.

MacElhiney was one of two Glastonbury runners in the top 10 alongside sophomore teammate Lila Garbett who ran 20:40.7 for 7th place.  The Guardians placed four other runners in the top 20 with Jacqueline Dudus finishing in 12th, Ava Gattinella in 14th, Mikayla Nedder in 18th and Ramajana Skopic in 19th.  They would score 54 total points with a 20:44 1-5 team average finishing ahead of Southington who score 129 points to finish in 2nd and E.O. Smith who scored 132 points to finish in third.

On the boys side, junior Isaac Mahler led Hall who scored 41 points and a 16:46 1-5 average by securing the individual title winning by 15 seconds ahead of Brayden Bayek (Rocky Hill) and Harrison Krause (Glastonbury).  Senior teammate Colin Goldschmidt took home a fourth place finish with Ethan Striff-Cave just behind in sixth.  Behind three runners in the top 10, Hall put their entire top 7 boys within the top 20 of the CCC as Nathaniel Aronson placed 13th, Avery Allen and Vince Sullivan 17th and 18th and Lucas Pyrro taking 20th all finishing under 17:25.

Hall would lead the team scores 82 points ahead of runner-ups E.O. Smith who scored 123 points with a 1-5 average of 17:33.
