CT Top 50 Sophomores - 2022 Outdoor Events

The Class of 2024 is moving on up, and next year as juniors they will be laying down some very impressive results after another year of growth.

As usual, the biggest sophomore results in 2022 came on the girls' side, who tend to develop a little more quickly than the guys. EO Smith's Gabriella Hernandez was the Open's 800m champ and a mainstay on the Panthers' relay reams. Hillhouse's Leonaya Knox established herself as the 100m hurdles champ, and Newington's Katherine Bohlke and Maloney indoor 100m champ Bria Benigni had only seniors ahead of them when the took bronzes in the Open's 1600m and 3200m races respectively. A pair of Hall sophomores, Jonathan York and Gabriel Sisk, took silver medals in the 200m and 800m Open events respectively, and Ridgefield's Steven Hergenrother with a 4:12 mile at Nationals and Class S 110m hurdles champ Byron McLean of Derby have set themselves up for big years ahead.

The top 50 sophomore performances in each of the standard individual events plus the mile are presented on the following two pages.
