Drew Thompson finished 35th overall at the Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego on Saturday.
Competing with some of the best runners in the nation, the Fairfield Prep junior clocked a solid time of 15 minutes, 52.2 seconds at Balboa Park. Thirty-seven runners in the field broke 16 minutes for the five-kilometer course.
Thompson, who placed second at the State Open, earned his berth out west by taking tenth at the Northeast Regional meet on Nov. 26.
