Per usual, Friday night's Danbury Dream Invitational falls nothing short on talent.
The boys' mile features nine athletes that have dipped under 4:20, led by nationally-ranked runners, Alex Ostberg of Darien and Wilton's Spencer Brown. Ostberg, whose had a great season so far with a win in the 3K at the Penn Relays in April and a runner-up finish and nation's No. 2 for 3,200 meters (8:43.93) at the Loucks Games in NY last weekend, goes into the meet as the top seed with a 4:10.22 best. Brown is right behind at 4:11.16. You also can't count out Brien McMahon's Eric van der Els. He did 4:15.82 last week at Loucks to place sixth overall.
Ridgefield's Jonathan Keating appears to be the favorite in the 800m based on his PB of 1:55.72, which he did in New York this past weekend. That time is more than two seconds faster than the next seed, Danbury's Terrell Cunningham at 1:58.01.
In the girls' 800m, Leah Sarkisian and Pomperaug's Micheyla Meyer, who both share PBs in the 2:14 range, are your strongest seeds.
The seven-event meet also includes a boys' two mile, pole vault and high jump and a girls' 4x200m relay. The high jump and pole vault kick off the action at 8:15 p.m. The featured boys' mile wraps things up at 9:10.
