Christian Gaskins Reaches New Heights
Few underclassmen had a bigger impact on the State Open than E.O. Smith sophomore Christian Gaskins.
Competing against the state's top high jumpers, Gaskins cleared 7-1 to win the State Open title and establish a new meet record. The victory made him one of only a handful of underclassmen to capture an individual State Open championship and immediately placed him among the state's elite field regardless of class.
The performance highlighted the tremendous upside of the sophomore, who enters the next two years as one of Connecticut's premier jumping talents.
