Sprints & Hurdles
Freshman Ajani Walker (Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy) was one of the week's biggest stars, sweeping the GHC 100-meter (10.62) and 200-meter (21.96) titles. Sophomore Rodney Crockett (Middletown) proved he can compete with anyone in the state, winning the CIAC Championship 100-meter title in 10.54 and placing second in the 200 meters in 22.04.
On the girls side, sophomore Kyra McLean (Stratford) finished runner-up at the CIAC Championships in the 100 meters with a 12.06 performance, while freshman Makaila Keller (Windsor) reached the championship final and ran 12.39. Freshman Addisyn Massey (The Morgan School) captured the Shoreline Conference 200-meter title in 26.04.
Sophomores Taeshaun Howell (Capital Prep), Deanna Spears (Bloomfield), Amaira Traynham (Wilbur Cross), and Danielle Wheeler (Coventry) all claimed 400m conference titles, while Traynham also ran an impressive 25.18 in the 200 meters.
In the hurdles, sophomore Cynthia Singleton (Naugatuck) placed second at the CIAC Championships in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.07) and 300-meter hurdles (45.19). Kayla Berning (Canton) won the NCCC 100-meter hurdles title, while C.J. Fowler (East Haven) finished runner-up in the SCC 300-meter hurdles.
Several athletes also delivered major breakthroughs. Juan Toledo Acosta (Windham) dropped nearly six seconds in the 400 meters to 55.94, Nelson Rivera (Haddam-Killingworth) improved to 45.96 in the 300-meter hurdles, and Abigail Blakeslee (Middletown) lowered her 100-meter best to 12.76.
Distance
Sophomore Jackson Gould (Xavier) captured the SCC 800-meter title in 1:55.50, while Leo Baroni (New Canaan) placed third at the CIAC Championships in 1:55.68. Sophomore Alexander Bianchi (Ellington) added an NCCC title in the 1600 meters with a 4:26.15 performance.
Sophomore Jack Mooney (Cheshire) emerged as one of the state's top young distance runners, finishing runner-up in the SCC 3200 meters in 9:54.26 and later placing tenth at the CIAC Championships in the 1600.
The girls distance events were led by freshman Georgina Harrington (New Canaan), who placed second at the CIAC Championships in the 800 meters (2:17.99) and fourth in the 1600 meters (5:08.36). Sophomore Lauren Casey (New Canaan) finished third in the CIAC 800-meter final, while Cora Wasiolek (Mercy) earned runner-up finishes in both the SCC 1600 and 3200 meters.
Among the week's biggest breakthroughs were freshman Ryan Moore (Bolton), who lowered his 1600-meter best by more than 36 seconds to 5:06.66, and freshman Odin Sakon (CREC Civic Leadership), who dropped over a minute in the 3200 meters while running 13:41.60.
Jumps
Sophomore Christian Gaskins (E.O. Smith) delivered one of Connecticut's top performances of the season, clearing 7-2 to win the CCC high jump title. Sophomore Luke Haslam (Cromwell) also had a standout championship week, winning the Shoreline triple jump title at 44-2.5 and placing second in the long jump.
On the girls side, Aaliyah Tucker (Rockville) won the NCCC triple jump title with a leap of 37-4, while Gabriella McDermott (North Branford) captured the Shoreline long jump championship. Sophomore Ny'asia Taylor (Hillhouse) added runner-up honors in the SCC long jump.
The pole vault was led by Kaylin Diglio (Guilford), who won the SCC title at 11-10. Freshman Ella Van Tonder (Amity) cleared 10-0 for third place in the SCC, while freshman Brooklyn Crawford (Newington) cleared 5-2 and finished runner-up in the CCC high jump.
Throws
Sophomore Douglas Trauner (Lyman Hall) captured the SCC javelin title with a throw of 156-0, while Evan Jarvis (Lewis Mills) placed third in the CCC at 155-5. Sophomore Aiden Nosol (North Haven) added a runner-up finish in the SCC shot put.
The girls throws were highlighted by sophomore Hailey Mayo (Coventry), who won both the NCCC discus (104-6) and javelin (118-1) titles while also placing second in the shot put. Sophomore Mikayla Schreier (Metropolitan Learning Center) finished runner-up at the GHC Championships in the shot put.
Several throwers also posted major improvements, including freshman Isael Martinez (Derby) in the shot put, sophomore Tyler Labella (Windham Technical) in the discus, and sophomore Hadley Fazekas (East Hampton) who improved to 120-1 while winning the Shoreline javelin title.
