Girls Summary
For Glastonbury, Brooke Strauss had disappeared from results after the Wilton invite in mid September till she placed 7th last week in the Class LL race as the third runner in for the champ Guardians. On Saturday, Strauss did even better, as the runner-up to 2021 champ Rachel St. Germain captured the win and led a dominating performance in which Glastonbury placed four runners in the top 25.
Reigning champ and Class L winner New Milford had a bit of a fall off at the Open, but they did enough to take 2nd place and a visit to North Sciutate. New Fairfield, on the other hand, had a banner day as the Class M came in projected 5th in the ratings and ran off with 3rd place thanks to a boost in the speed ratings. EO Smith claimed 4th place by matching its performance in the Class L race, which moved it up three spots from its 7th place projections. Trumbull moved up from a 9th place projection to capture 5th place as runner-up Katie Marchand led the way. Ridgefield had an off day but got the final ticket to the New England championship. Two 9th-graders, Lyme-Old Lyme's Chase Gilbert in 3rd and New Fairfield's Katie McMorrow in 8th, finished very high up, boding very well for their team's future prospects.
