It looks like Drew Thompson will be heading to sunny California in a few weeks.
The Fairfield Prep junior earned a trip to San Diego on Saturday by finishing tenth overall at the Foot Locker Northeast Regionals. Thompson finished the 5K race, held at historic Van Cortlandt Park, in 15:48.10. The race was won by senior Noah Affolder of Carlisle (PA) in 15:28.10. Finishing second was Affolder's younger brother, Sam, a sophomore, in 15:36.60. The top 10 finishers earn a spot to the nationals on Dec. 10.
Thompson, who was second at the State Open this fall, was 41st at last year's regional meet.
