Tyler Gleen was simply dominant on Friday!
Running his first, highly-competitive 800-meter race of the season at the Glenn B. Loucks Games, the Trumbull High junior clocked a major personal best of 1 minutes, 52.22 seconds to capture the individual title. He was a comfortable three seconds ahead of fellow state rival, James Lewis of Staples, who was timed in 1:55.26 for second. Gleen, the New England indoor 600m winner, was more than five seconds under his previous best.
Wilbur Cross senior Danae Rivers was third in the girls' 800m, finishing with a time of 2:08.87 (US #5). The race was won by the host state's Sammy Watson of Rush Henrietta, who crossed the line in 2:06.61.
In the boys' 3,200m, a race that saw 11 runners dip under nine minutes, Brien McMahon's Eric van der Els was fourth overall with a PB of 8:50.53. Ridgefield's Gabe Altopp was 13th in 9:09.24.
