Week 5 Wrapup and Upcoming Action

From Connecticut and southward, last weekend was wet and perforated by huge wind gusts. Many meets in the Northeast were cancelled due to dangerous conditions. One of the local meets in action was at Coginchaug for the Marty Roberts invite, which was filmed by MileSplit. The races can be viewed on the meet's MS homepage, but unfortunately the results never were posted by the timing service, so everybody is a bit in the dark about times and distances.

There were a few other meets going on, including one near Marty Roberts, and among the top performers were Glastonbury' Molly Harding and and East Hartford's Kyrah Smith who battled to a 1-2 finish in the 400m at 58.95 and 59.08 for CT #3 and #4. New Milford's Sydney Kelleher got a CT #5 in the 1600m at 5:06.57, Joel Barlow's Mariella Schweitzer got CT #2's in the 100m hurdles at 15.40 and the long jump at 17-11.5, Bloomfield state leader D'Jior Delisser won the LJ at 18-0, and New Milford's Anichka Malachi and New Canaan's Eliana Bukai got CT #3 and #4 in the triple jump at 36-3 and 36-2.5. For the boys, Bristol Central's Francis Porrini and Wilbur Cross's Nikita Omelchenko went CT #2 and #3 in the 1600m at 4:22.14 and 4:22.32, Xavier's Eamon Burke got the CT #4 in the 3200 at 9:25.97, Lewis Mills' Michael Johnson got a CT topper in the 100H at 14.72 and CT #4 in the 300H at 41.14, Woodstock Academy's Keenan Lamontagne got a CT #2 in the discus at 175-8, New Milford's Christopher Bon Tempo got a CT #2 in the shot put at 53-3,  and South Windsor's Malachi O'Neal got a CT #1 in the LJ at 22-1.

Starting Thursday's DMR day and continuing on into Saturday, White Plains HS in NY will be hosting the huge Loucks Games, and MileSplit will be live-streaming all the race action and trying also to catch a lot of the field events. 32 of CT's top powers have signed up for Loucks, and we will have more about that tomorrow.
