Both of the girls middle-distance champs from last June's CIAC Open are back to defend their titles. Alanna Smith will be trying to make the 400m a part of another 100m-200m-400m sweep again, while Olivia Birney will have the 800m as part of a defense of her 800m-1600m double. Andrew O'Donnell is back on the guys side, and he has already posted an overall 400m best indoors at 48:00 while placing 4th at New Balance Indoor Nationals in March.
Other runners who appear ready to fly include Britanni Westberry after her win in the 600m of the indoor Open, and 300m winner Jon York and 600m champ Jeremy Rivera will also be bringing some big momentum into the outdoor season. Over in the private school FAA conference, Justine Hounsell looks set for a big senior outdoor season in the 400m. And overall, there's a large pack of contenders who could be on the way to breakout performances this spring.
