The weight event trio of the shot put, discus, and javelin could look forward to some big big marks this year. On the boys side, Gary Moore Jr returns for final HS season after breaking the shot put and weight throw marks indoors. He came very close last year to breaking Mel Taylor's discus state record of 189-2 from 1967, and he will also be chasing Andre Reid's 2001 shot put mark of 65-0.
For the girls, Shea Greene blasted the state record in the javelin while winning at last year's American JavFest meet in July, so her senior season could be massive. The discus record of 149-0 could also be challenged by Tristin Oberg if she has a huge senior season.
One other weight event that may see a change at the SR tops is the less often done hammer throw, as Alex Krause at 203-10 fell just 7-4 short of AJ Guerra's 2010 record of 211-2 last year.
