Who Could Beat Alanna Smith in Finals Last Night?

Alanna Smith blasted out early in the 55m finals last night and sped on to a time of 7.20  for the win. It's a great ante up in League action for the Class (LL) and Open action to come. But could there be an even better performance that gets the edge over Smith's final win?

Well of course. Smith did a 7.19 in the prelims, a very big tenth of a second faster that is often the difference between hoisting or not hoisting the big trophy for a sprint championship.

We should note, however, that shortly before the 55m finals, Smith stepped up a notch to try out the 600m race, which is 200m beyond her 400m limit (and maybe specialty) during the outdoor season. She finished just out of the money in 7th for the effort, but conceivably, she may have sacrificed a tenth of a second or two in fast-twitch  muscle blast-off  for the 55m. Smith would later win the 300m by more than 2 seconds. Her top time for the season in the 55m is 7.12, which was run at the Armory back in Decamber.
