Choosing a list of top ten teams is tough until the season opens up and we can see how squads have come together. In depth discussion for the conferences and classes will be included in the rest of the articles in this series. The team 5K average times listed are a very general average of the projected top 5 returning runners from 2020 times (and conversions from 4K, 2.5 mile, and 3 mile distances). As results come in during the season, we will be adding speed rating comparisons for teams.
A number of the time average rankings below are just best-guess estimations since no 2020 XC results are available.
