Watch Nate DeAngelo win the Class L Indoor 3200m in 9:38.44
Over the next two weeks, we're going to release our top 10 subjective preseason individual rankings. We used previous cross country results as well as factored what the athletes have done in the distance events over the track season. We'll be updating these rankings throughout the course of the regular season once that gets underway.
#10 Nate DeAngelo (Bristol Central)
A year ago Nate DeAngelo placed 7th in the CIAC Class L Cross Country Championships and 15th at the State Open Championships. He got a late start to the season, opening up at the Wickham Park Invitational on October 12th just ahead of the start to championship season. He'd drop his PR down from 16:44 to 16:30. During the indoor track season is where we saw DeAngelo take a large step forward.

DeAngelo closed his sophomore track season in 2019 running 9:54 in the 3200m and 4:41 in the 1600m. During his junior indoor season he ran 4:29 and 9:28 in the 1600m and 3200m respectively. He won the Class L 3200m Championship and placed 5th int he CIAC Open Indoor Championships while also placed 3rd in the Class L 1600m.
His big improvement in the 3200m would rank him 6th in Connecticut at the end of the season and makes him the 5th fastest indoor returner in the event. The improvement over the indoor season, as well as a strong close the CIAC Championships a year ago, shows DeAngelo will certainly be amongst the top Connecticut boys this fall. Our returning rankings have him as the 33rd fastest runner heading into 2020. If you look at returning rankings from the CIAC Divisional Championships DeAngelo ranks 10th and should be apart of a 3 man battle between him, Samuel Geisler, and Michael Bohlke for the Class L title this fall.
