Danbury Invite Lived Up To The Hype (revised)

State Best in Girls Hammer

Not to be overlooked among the great track performances Thursday night, Bloomfield's Erica Belvit broke the state record in the girls hammer with a heave of 157 feet, 10 inches.  Finishing second was her teammate Brittany Jones who just missed the record, throwing 152-4.  Both athletes cracked the top 20 in the nation.  Unfortunately, the record won't be verified because the implements, which were approved in other competitions were not weighed in before the meet began.  Both girls are hoping to get other chances to break the record over the next few weeks.

Also qualifying for NBON emerging elite were Seyour's Jessica Litwa who threw 130-09 and sophomore Amanda Howe of Southington who threw 129'10.
