Randy Neish powered to the quickest time of the day at the Stratton Brook Invitational on Saturday.
The Glastonbury High senior captured the Large School race with a winning time of 16 minutes, 14 seconds. Neish was comfortably ahead of second-place finisher Ahmad Zakeer of Staples, who crossed the line at 16:54. With all five of its scoring runners among the top 10 placements, Staples won the team title, defeating runner-up Glastonbury, 29-58.
Bridged Selfors of Mercy posted the fastest clocking for girls, capturing the Large Schools' race in 19:23. Alison McArdle of Glastonbury was second in 20:02. Glastonbury took the team crown with a 41-64 decision over Newtown.
