Germantown Varsity Athletes after a victory at PAISAA Championships

Monday, October 19th: Pre-meet running as usual. Tomorrow is our biggest divisional competition of the year, the Friends League Championships at Westtown School. This year we will be facing some strong competition, so we are coming into it with absolutely everything we can. I know my goals, and exactly what I will have to do in order to execute on them. All I can do now is prepare and make the decision when the race comes. I went out for 31:58 over 7.46km at an average of 6:54/mile pace today along the standard Pipeline trail, getting down to a 6:31 mile on the trails. My legs felt really strong, and it was great to have the opportunity to talk about race strategy with my coach Phil Celona, who accompanied me today. My race at Manhattan is still incredibly fresh in my memory, and I can't shake the feeling of watching my goal slip away. I want more than anything to avoid that same predicament tomorrow. After my run, I grabbed two sets of fartlek work on the track, each about a mile long, and finished the day with a full static stretch. Tomorrow will be the third time I take on the Friends League with my teammates, and hopefully the third time we walk away with gold medals.
