ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Green Bay men's and women's cross
country teams wrapped up the season competing in the Great Lakes Regional
hosted by Oakland University at Katke-Cousins Golf Course in Rochester, Mich.
Sophomore Areanna Lakowske (Sparta, Wis.) led the
way for the Phoenix finishing in 24:34, averaging 6:35/mile. Teammates Annie Bley (Sevastopol, Wis.) and
senior Danielle Pozolinski
(Kimberly, Wis.) finished in 25:23 and 25:25 respectively.
Freshman Kristi Petasek (New Franken, Wis.) ran
her first regional race in a time of 26:01, averaging just under seven minutes
per mile. Meanwhile teammates Leah
Farley (Algoma, Wis.) and Stacey
Sell (Menasha, Wis.) crossed the line in 26:15 while Sophomore Annie Dehmlow (Forest Lake, Minn.)
finished the 6K course in 27:10.
Michigan
State and Michigan finished first and second respectively in their home state
to advance to the national competition while Green Bay was 33rd.
On the men's
side Josh Clark (Gillett, Wis.)
paced the Phoenix with a time of 34:16 running an average mile pace of 5:30.
Sophomore Stephen Wagner (Seymour,
Wis.) finished the 10K course in 35:09 with an average pace of 5:39.
Paul Malcore (Luxemburg-Casco, Wis.) and Erik Blomsness (Winona, Minn.) crossed
the line 35:50 and 35:52 respectively while senior Brad Endres (Plymouth, Wis.) finished his collegiate career with a
time of 36:02 to round out the scoring for the Phoenix.
Wisconsin scored
32 team points and Indiana scored 76, earning a trip to the national competition
while Green Bay finished in 30th place.
