Five Events To Watch At Classical Classic

BOYS' 800m

This race has potential to be a down-to-the-wire affair with a time in the 1:55 range. The top seed is North Providence's Nathan Coogan, who ran 1:56 during the indoor season and was fifth at last year's State Meet. He'll toe the line with a few others that have also cracked two minutes. Hope sophomore Elijah Akindole clocked an all-time best of 1:58.01 to finish fifth at the Trinity Distance Classic in Connecticut this past weekend. Also in the field is a talented foursome from East Greenwich that includes Colin Cianciolo (1:58.90), Quentin Viera (2:00.10), Cebastian Gentil (2:01.30) and Dante Posseda (2:01.70). Keep an eye on Gentil, who surprised the field at the indoor state meet when he captured the 600m with a PB of 1:22.79.
