NBNO Update: Windsor Takes Gold In 4x200m


In a race where the top six teams were separated by less than a second, it was Windsor High that grabbed the glory in the Championship 4x200-meter relay at the New Balance Nationals on Saturday. The foursome of Tim Epps, Kyshawn Bonner, MIchael Mahon and Tyler Coyle combined for a winning time of 1 minute, 27.03 seconds. Finishing second was Franklin (NJ) in 1:27.32. Perennial power Western Branch (VA) placed third at 1:27.33.

In the Championship Two-Mile Run, last week's New England's victor Jessica Drop of Coginchaug was fourth overall with a time of 10:19.85. Sophomore Weini Kelati of Leesburg (VA) was the indiviual winner with a 10:00.38 clocking.

Qualifying for Sunday's 4x100m finals was Bloomfield, winner of its heat in 41.66, the third fastest time of the day. The quartet consisted of Maurice Savage, Zaheen Anderson, Thomas Norman and Russell Thompson-Bishop. Windsors' team of Eric Foster, Coyle, Bonner and Epps also qualified, placing second in its heat and fifth overall.
