8-Year-Old Sophia Gorriaran Runs 400m In 2014

March 6, 2020 -- Six years ago, Sophia Gorriaran was just 8 years old.

But even then, the young runner knew what giving an "all-out" effort meant. Along with her sister, Natasha, she ran 70 seconds for 400 meters in 2014 at an indoor meet in Boston, refusing to lose at the very finish.

All these years later, it's easy to see why that talent is translating to more success as a high school freshman

The Moses Brown (RI) School athlete, who's also a talented lacrosse player, went 2:03.98 for 800 meters at the BU Last Chance Meet on Feb. 28, setting a new national freshman class record in the process.

She'll run her final indoor race at New Balance Nationals Indoor on March 15.
