NEW HAVEN, Conn.-  The Southern Connecticut State University Owls men's and women's track and field programs hosted the Elm City Challenge on Friday at Moore Field House in New Haven, Conn.

The Owls scored 67 points in the meet.

In the sprints, Rachel Van Gilder (Enfield, Conn.) placed second in the 55 m dash in 7.63 seconds.

In mid-distance, Brittany Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) won the 600 m run 1:42.42, and she also won the 55 m hurdles in 8.54 seconds.

In distance, Sarah Vaughan (Hamden, Conn.) won the 3,000 m run in 11:11.44.

In the field, Michelle Grecni (Danbury, Conn.) and Meghan Nicolletta (East Hampton, Conn.) placed first and second in the pole vault at 3.50 m and 3.05 m respectively.

In the relays, the 4X400 team 'A' won in 4:15.90. The 4X800 team 'A' also won in 10:12.75.

In throws, Elizabeth Bashir (Colchester, Conn.) won the shot put at 12.30 m. Bashir also won the weight throw at 14.60 m.
