NASHUA, N.H. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's cross country team competed today to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division II East Region Championships (6k) from Mine Falls Park in Nashua, N.H.

The Owls finished in fifth with 185 total points, and a team time of 1:55:22.1. The Owls fell just short of making it to the NCAA Championships, which took the top three teams from the meet.

The Owls brought seven competitors to the meet, with four finishing in the top 50.

Graduate student Courtney Dinnan (Hamden, Conn.) led SCSU in third place with a time of 21:34.6.  Dinnan also made the NCAA All-East Region Team, which was made up of the top 25 runners from the meet.

Three Owls finished outside the top 20. Junior Titilayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) finished in 36th place with a time of 23:03.6. Sophomore Sarah Vaughan (Hamden, Conn.) was next in 42nd in 23:15.9. Freshman Emily Taylor (Guilford, Conn.) came in 50th with a time of 23:36.9.
