NASHUA, N.H. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's cross country team competed today to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division II East Region Championships (10k) from Mine Falls Park in Nashua, N.H.

The Owls finished in fifth with 124 total points, and a team time of 2:37:27.0. The Owls fell just short of making it to the NCAA Championships, which took the top three teams from the meet.

The Owls brought seven competitors to the meet, with five finishing in the top 50.

Two Owls were in the top 20. Senior Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) led SCSU in eighth place with a time of 30:49.2. Senior Brian Nill (Ridge, N.Y.) was next in 14th place with a time of 30:59.6.

Perry and Nill also were a part of the NCAA All-East Region Team, which was made up of the top 25 runners from the meet.

Three other Owls outside the top 20. Senior Samuel Montclair (Cheshire, Conn.) finished in 26th place in 31:35.7. Senior Asher Brandt (Orange, Conn.) came in 38th in 31:57.8. Sophomore Tom Saksa (Seymour, Conn.) finished 41st with a time of 32:04.7.
