NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Connecticut State University men's track and field head coach John Wallin announced earlier today the captains for the 2012-13 season.

The captains will be seniors Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.Y.), Thomas Phommalinh (New Britain, Conn.) and Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.), and junior Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.).

Lumax enjoyed a solid season for the Owls both on the national and regional level. Lumax was  named the Indoor Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Year for the NCAA Division II East Region. Lumax earned All-Region and All-American honors. In the spring of 2012, Lumax also qualified for the 2012 United States Olympic Trials and the African Track and Field Championships.

Phommalinh is a member of the relay teams for the Owls and will bring his senior leadership to the team this season. Last season, he was All-Region in the 4X100m relay and he was a Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll Selection.

Sharpe had a breakout season in 2012 on the relay teams for the Owls. His resume included All-American (4X400 relay and distance medley relay), CoSIDA Academic All-American, All-Region (400m, 4x400m relay, distance medley relay), New England champion (4X400m relay), All-New England (400m), Northeast-10 champion (4X800m relay), Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, and Northeast-10 Conference Men's Track and Field All-Academic Team.

Lebron enjoyed a great sophomore season in 2011-12. Lebron was the NCAA Champion in the heptathlon during the indoor season, All-American in the decathlon, All-Region (110 hurdles, 4X400 relay, long jump, 60 hurdles, high jump, decathlon, heptathlon), All-New England (heptathlon), Notheast-10 champion (4X400 relay), All-New England (high jump, 4X400 relay), and Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll selection.
