Jayme Larson and Nick Lebron were named the SCSU/Comcast Athletes of the Month for May.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Jayme Larson (Aurora, Colo.) of the softball team and sophomore Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.) of the men's outdoor track and field team have been named as the Southern Connecticut State University/Comcast Athletes of the Month for May.

Larson was the anchor of the Owls' first-ever run to the College World Series, highlighted by a memorable effort during Super Regional action against Molloy. She pitched 26 and two-thirds innings over the two-day series and tossed 422 pitches to help send her club onto Louisville for the CWS. In all, Larson registered a 6-2 record with a 1.79 earned run average in May. Larson also won three games – against Assumption, UMass-Lowell and Caldwell – during NCAA East Region I play, and claimed her final win in an Owls uniform with a complete game two-hitter against St. Joseph's (Ind.) in the College World Series. Larson was an All-Region, All-ECAC and All-Conference pick in 2012.

Lebron capped a phenomenal year with a fifth-place finish in the decathlon at the NCAA Championships, a mark that earned him All-America honors. Previously the NCAA indoor champion in the heptathlon this winter, he also earned four top-six marks at the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championships and helped the Owls win their 20th straight title. He was a NE-10 champion in the 4x400 relay, placed second in the 110 hurdles, fourth in the high jump and sixth in the long jump. Lebron was also an All-Region selection and the Northeast-10 Outdoor Rookie of the Year this spring.

For the fourth consecutive year, Comcast is serving as the title sponsor of Southern Connecticut State University's 'Athlete of the Month' recognition program. Initiated in September, 2007, the 'Athlete of the Month' program recognizes one female and one male student-athlete each month for demonstrated excellence on the playing field.
