Bell, Johnson Tabbed With CoSIDA Women’s Track and Field Academic All-District Laurels
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior
Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) and junior
Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women's track and field team have been awarded with Academic All-District honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The pair now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Bell was the Northeast-10 Conference champion in both the 55 meters and the 200 meters indoors and the 100 and 200 meters outdoors. She was also the New England champion in the 200 meters and was the runner-up in the 100 meters outdoors. Bell was a multiple All-New England and All-Region honoree this year, as well as a NCAA qualifier. She has also been a Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team pick indoors and outdoors for the past three years.
She is a mathematics major with a 3.46 cumulative grade point average.
Johnson was the Northeast-10 Conference indoor champion in the pole vault and was also All-Region and All-New England (indoors and outdoors) in that event. She also collected All-Region honors in the high jump outdoors. Johnson was also tabbed for the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team earlier this spring.
She is an exercise science major with a 3.68 cumulative grade point average.
