Two Owls Earn CoSIDA Men’s Track and Field Academic All-District Honors
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior
Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) and junior
Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men's track and field team have been awarded with Academic All-District honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The pair now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Jean-Baptiste recently capped an outstanding career for the Owls both on the track and in the classroom. He earned All-America honors in the 4x400 relay once again this year – he was a three-time All-America honoree for his career – and also collected All-New England and All-Region accolades in 2011-12. Jean-Baptiste was also a part of the New England champion 4x400 relay during the indoor season. He was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team earlier this spring.
He is a sociology major with a 3.43 cumulative grade point average.
Sharpe had a stellar season during the indoor campaign before redshirting outdoors. He was an All-American in the 4x400 relay and distance medley relay – the latter of which finished as the NCAA national runner-up. He also collected All-Region and All-New England honors and was a part of the New England champion 4x400 relay. Sharpe was also a NE-10 champion in the 4x800 relay. Sharpe was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team earlier this spring.
He is an exercise science major with a 3.49 cumulative grade point average.
