PUEBLO, Colo. - Seniors Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Samantha Spindel (Brewster, N.Y.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women's outdoor track and field team competed on day one of the NCAA Championships on Thursday.

Spindel finished 12th in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.72 meters. Bell finished 17th in the prelims of the 100 meters with a time of 12.02 seconds.

Bell will return to action on Friday for the prelims of the 200 meters.
