No. 21 nationally ranked men's track and field win their 20th consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 21 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team claimed victory to extend their streak to 20 consecutive indoor and outdoor Northeast-10 Conference Championships today at Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn. The Owls were represented in almost every event with a student athlete within the top-8 of 21 out of a possible 23 events scored and claiming top honors in seven events. The Owls finished with a total of 219 points in the meet after falling behind in second with 55 points after day one.

Other than the conference championships, the Owls were recognized for outstanding achievements during the outdoor season. Head coach, John Wallin, was named Men's Coach of the Year for a four straight season. Connor Coleman (Gunnison, Colo.) was named Northeast-10 Conference Male Athlete of the Year and Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.) was named Northeast-10 Conference Most Outstanding Freshman for the outdoor season.

Two previous All-Americans in the 800 meters during the 2011-12 indoor season, Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.) were first (1.51.72) and third (1.53.09) in the 800 meters followed by Brian Nill (Ridge, N.Y.) in fifth (1.53.57). Perry also met a NCAA Division II provisional mark and broke the meet record previously held by Tyler Gantz of Saint Rose. Nill and Perry also competed in the 1,500 meters with Nill in third and Perry in fifth with NCAA Division II provisional mark times of 3:49.82 and 3:51.09, respectively.

Enis Bukalo (Derby, Conn.) and Michael Cameron (Hartford, Conn.) finished first and second in the shot put with heaves of 16.20 and 15.41 meters, respectively. Cameron and Buaklo flip-flopped standings in the discus with Cameron taking first with a toss of 48.14 meters which breaks the previous meet record held by Nicholas Fedor of Southern Conn. Bukalo was second with a toss of 47.29 meters.



The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Adham Conaway (New Haven, Conn.), Robbins, Lebron, and Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) finished first with a time of 3:18.18 after trailing going into the last 100 meters.



Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) led a number of Owls in the pole vault. He finished first with a vault of 4.80 meters and claimed a NCAA Provisional Mark. Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.) finished second with a height cleared of 4.70 meters.

Freshman Michael Lee (New London, Conn.) finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 14.38 meters.

Three members of the Owls finished within the top-8 of the 100 meters led by Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, Conn.) in second with a time of 11.09. Jean-Baptiste and Russell Fallo (Redding, Conn.) finished fourth and seventh with times of 11.16 and 11.24, respectively. Jean Baptiste also registered a fourth place mark in the 200 meters with a time of 22.06.

The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Fallo, Jean-Baptiste, Thomas Phommalinh (New Britain, Conn.), Forth ran a second place time of 42.19.

Lebron and Coleman managed top times in the 110 meter hurdles followed closely by teammate Jason Polakowski (Essex Jct., VT). Lebron claimed second with a time of 15.03, Coleman was fifth with a time of 15.24 and Polakowski was seventh with a time of 16.03. Daniel Canderlaria (New Haven, Conn.) ran an eighth best time in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.05.

Joseph Poulsen (Oxford, Conn.) finished third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:34.16 followed by Tom Saksa (Seymour, Conn.) and Paul Ryskowski (Bristol, Conn.) in seventh and eighth with times of 9:57.85 and 10:00.09, respectively.

The 4 x 800 meter team of Poulsen, Chris Babcock (New Windsor, N.Y.), Ryskowski, and Saksa finished fifth with a time of 8:09.11.

Conaway managed a time of 50.83 in the 400 meters to claim seventh.

The Owls will be back in action next weekend for the New England Championships to be held in Boston, Mass. on May 10-12.
