NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A.J. Guerra (Stafford Springs, Conn.) of the No. 21 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team dominated the hammer throw event on the first day of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship held at Jesse Dow Field in New Haven, Conn. He beat out the closest competitor by over 6.0 meters to claim first and reach a NCAA Division II provisional mark with a heave of 57.56 meters. The Owls are currently in a close second behind Stonehill with 55 points through five events scored.

Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.) and Adham Conaway (New Haven, Conn.) finished fourth and seventh in the high jump with heights of 2.00 and 1.85 meters, respectively. Lebron also competed in the 110 meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 15.44 in fourth for the finals to be held tomorrow.

Michael Lee (New London, Conn.) reached a NCAA Division II provisional mark for the event in addition he helped lead a total of four Owls in the top-6 of the long jump. Lee finished second with a leap of 7.23 meters followed by Russell Fallo (Redding, Conn.) in third (6.84m), Connor Coleman in fifth (6.75m) and Lebron in sixth (6.73m). Coleman qualified third for the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.39 followed by Jason Polakowski (Essex Jct., Vt.) in seventh with a time of 16.01.



Omar Gonzalez claimed second place honors in the javelin with a mark of 58.09 meters. Coleman and Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) were in third and sixth with throws of 57.49 and 51.84 meters.

Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ran a time of 11.09 in the 100 meters to qualify third. Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) and Fallo qualified fifth and seventh with times of 11.16 and 11.24, respectively.

The Owls will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
