Bell Named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week by Northeast-10 Conference
NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women's outdoor track and field team was selected as the Northeast-10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week for claiming top honors in multiple events yesterday at the Yale Springtime Invitational. Joining their fellow teammate,
Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.) and
Michelle Grecni (Danbury, Conn.) were selected to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll.
Bell claimed first place honors at the Yale Springtime Invitational in both the 100 and 200 meter dash events with times of 11.99 and 24.85, respectively. She also helped the Owls' 4 x 100 meter relay team capture second place with a time of 48.83.
At the Yale Springtime Invitational, Grecni finished first in the pole vault by clearing 3.50 meters, an NCAA Division II Provisional mark. Johnson competed in three events on the weekend at the Yale Springtime Invitational with her best per¬formance coming during the high jump where she claimed first with a mark of 1.60 meters. She also managed second with a time of 15.42 in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.35 meters.
The Owls will be back in action this upcoming weekend to host the Northeast-10 Conference Championships to be held on the Southern campus on May 4-5.
