Women's track competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational today in Princeton, N.J.

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Samantha Spindel (Brewster, N.Y.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women's outdoor track and field team led the Owls on the final day of the Larry Ellis Invitational held in Princeton, N.J. Bell paced a time of 24.81 in the 200 meter dash open to finish seventh on the day followed by a 15th place effort in the 100 meter open with a time of 12:15. Spindel improved upon her previous best mark in the nation with a 10th place effort of 53.99 meters in the hammer throw. She is currently ranked 14th on the NCAA Division II national leaderboard for the hammer throw.

Aubrey Dowding (Warwick, R.I.) was 11th in the javelin throw with a mark of 37.04 meters.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Raysa Florentino (Groton, Conn.), Nyoshee Lowry (Danbury, Conn.), Rachel Van Gilder (Enfield, Conn.), and Bell finished 11th with a time of 3:53.62 and a 16th place showing in the 4 x 100 open relay with a time of 48.95.

Jaclyn Sullivan (Lisbon, Conn.) managed a pace of 4:52.51 in the 1,500 meter open event to claim 35th place.

The Owls will be back in action next week for the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. on April 26-28.
