Poulsen, Perry Set New School Records at Day One of Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. –
Joseph Poulsen (Oxford, Conn.) and
Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team set new school records on the opening day of competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational held in Princeton, N.J. Poulsen broke the Owls' school record with a 12
th best time of 8:58.08 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. The record was previously held by Ramon Laboy in 2006 with a time of 9:01.19. Perry paced a time of 3:47.96 to finish 20th in the 1,500 meters to break the previous outdoor record of 3:49.82 set by Mike Cebula in 2007.
To round out the day of competition for the Owls,
Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.) finished 49
th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.66.
The Owls will be back in action tomorrow to finish up the weekend and the Larry Ellis Invitational.
