Perry, Poulsen Led Owls to Fourth at Metropolitan Championships

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. –
Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) and
Joseph Poulsen (Oxford, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team placed first in their respective events on the final day of competition at the Metropolitan Championships held in New Brunswick, N.J. Perry was first in the 1,500 meters, while Poulsen was first in the 10,000 meters as both students-athletes helped lead the Owls to a team score of 91 points to finish fourth overall. Perry finished the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:53.52 and Poulsen managed a time of 31:49.70 in the 10,000 meters.
A.J. Guerra (Stafford Springs, Conn.) finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.74 meters.
In the pole vault,
Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.) finished second clearing a height of 4.80 meters.
4 x 400 meter relay team of Adam Conaway (New Haven, Conn.),
Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.),
Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.), and
Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were third with a time of 3:18.57. In the 400 meters, Jean-Baptiste was fifth with a time of 49.27. Robbins also competed in the 800 meters with a sixth place finish. Forth also competed in the 100 meters and finished fourth with a time of 10.786.
Enis Bukalo (Derby, Conn.) once again leads the Owls in the shot put with a mark of 15.15 meters in fourth followed closed behind by
Michael Cameron (Hartford, Conn.) in fifth with a heave of 14.91 meters. Much the same for both athletes in the discus, Bukalo claimed third with a toss of 48.08 meters and Cameron in fourth with a mark of 47.48 meters.
In the javelin throw,
Omar Gonzalez (Bristol, Conn.) was fourth with a throw of 54.20 meters.
Brian Nill (Ridge, N.Y.) claimed eighth place with a time of 1:56.11and completed the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:56.20 in fourth.
Freshman
Michael Lee (New London, Conn.) managed a seventh place effort in both the long jump with a distance of 6.66 meters and the triple jump with a mark of 13.56 meters.
The Owls will be back in action next weekend for the Larry Ellis Invitational held on April 19-20.
