Four Members of Women’s Track Reach Nation’s Best Marks at Northeast-10 Conference Championship
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Four members of the Southern Connecticut State University women's outdoor track and field team reached a top mark on the NCAA Division II Outdoor Qualifying List at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships held this past weekend at Jesse Dow Field in New Haven, Conn. The list of Owls includes
Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.),
Michelle Grecni (Danbury, Conn.),
Samantha Spindel (Brewster, N.Y.), and
Aubrey Dowding (Warwick, R.I.).
Bell is ranked in both the 100 and 200 meters following her meet record in the 100 meters at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and her first place finish in the 200 meter event. She is ranked No. 24 in the 100 meter with a time of 11.91 and No. 27 in the 200 meter with a time of 24.43.
Grecni is ranked No. 25 in the nation with a vault of 3.62 meters in the pole vault.
Spindel improved upon her previous nation's best mark in the hammer throw with a toss of 54.52 meters at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.
Dowding reached a mark of 40.52 meters in the javelin to rank No. 31 achieved at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.
The Owls will be back in action for the New England Championships to be held this weekend, May 10-12, in Boston, Mass.
