Day One Meet Results

MANKATO, Minn. – The Distance Medley Relay team of the No. 3 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team finished second at the NCAA Division II National Championships held on the campus of Minnesota State in Mankato, Minn. The team consisted of Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.), Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.), Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.) and Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.). The Owls are currently tied for sixth place in the team rankings through four events scored at the end of Day One.

Lumax qualified for the finals with the fastest time in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.88. The finals will be held tomorrow during Day Two of the championships. He came into the meet with the fastest time in the 800 meters in all Division II.

The DMR team finished within seven seconds of the lead with a time of 9:55.34. The Owls returned Lumax, Sharpe, and Perry from the DMR team that finished eighth during the previous indoor season in the 2010-11 campaign.

Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.) is currently third in the heptathlon event through four of seven events with 2888 points, while Connor Coleman (Gunnison, Colo.) is currently ninth with 2761 points.

Perry qualified in second for the one mile run finals, to be held tomorrow, with a time of 4:23.78. He currently holds the second fastest time on the season with a time of 4:04.30 achieved at the NEICAAA Indoor Track and Field Championships held on Feb. 24.

Sharpe finished 11th in the preliminaries of the 400 meters with a time of 49.10.

The Owls will be back for Day Two of the NCAA Championships to be held tomorrow with a 9 a.m. start time.
