Brittany Brown was named NCAA Division II East Region Female Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) of the No. 15 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team was named NCAA Division II East Region Female Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA.)

Brown, a junior, earned national top-15 marks in the high jump, long jump, and pentathlon before suffering a season-ending injury. Brown's season best of 5-9¼ (1.76m) in the high jump is the third best among Division II athletes in 2012. She also holds the school record in both the indoor pentathlon and the high jump. At one point during the season, she was ranked in the top-5 in the nation in four events including the 60 hurdles. She is currently ranked ninth in the indoor pentathlon with a score of 3662 achieved at the Brother Jasper Invitational on Dec. 9th. At the UConn Winter Invitational on Jan. 7th, she managed top marks in both the long jump and the high jump of 1.76 meters and 5.75, respectively. Her accolades on the season include Female Athlete of the Year selected by the Northeast-10 Conference, as well as numerous selections to the conference weekly honor roll and field athlete of the week honors.
