Selasi Lumax claimed the best time in the 800 meters in New England History.

BOSTON, Mass. – Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) of the No. 7 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team entered the meet as the top ranked 800 meter specialist in all Division II. He managed to walk out the New England Champion with the claim of “best Division II time ever in New England history,” after breaking the 800 meter meet record during the New England Championships held in Boston, Mass. Connor Coleman (Gunnison, Colo.) also claimed New England Champion in the heptathlon improving upon the school record broken earlier this year by teammate Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.). The 4 x 400 meter relay consisting of Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.), Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.), Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Lumax improved upon a school record set earlier in the year by this squad to claim the New England Championship with a time of 3:10.72.

The Owls finished third overall and continued to showcase the depth of the team as 10 student athletes laid claim to All-New England honors by finishing within the top-8 of their respective event.

Lumax ran a time of 1:47.34 to claim first, while Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.) finished fourth in the 800 meters en route to All-New England honors.

Coleman finished the hepathlon with 5047 and led the charge as two other Owls, Lebron and Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.), were second and fifth with scores of 5002 and 4775, respectively. They each received All-New England honors.

Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) improved upon his own school record in the one mile with a time of 4:03.50. He is currently the No. 2 ranked in All Division II for this event and claimed All-New England honors.

Enis Bukalo (Derby, Conn.) claimed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 15.97 meters to claim his second straight All-New England honors as an Owl.

Sharpe and Jean-Baptiste were second and sixth, respectively, in the 400 meters to claim All-New England honors with times of 47.30 and 48.73.

The Owls will be back in action next weekend for the ICAC Championships in Boston, Mass. to be held on March 3-4.
