Ashley Bell claimed All-New England honors in the 200 meters today in Boston, Mass.

BOSTON, Mass. –The No. 14 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team finished 22nd with nine points on the final day of competition for the New England Championships held in Boston, Mass.

Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) qualified for the finals of the 60 meters and finished ninth with a time of 7.89. She also improved upon her previous top -25 in the nation for the 200 meters by running a 24.79 to finish sixth and claim All-New England honors. She is ranked 14th in the 200 meters for all Division II this season.

Titilayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) finished ninth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.28. She is currently the No. 13 ranked student athlete in the nation for Division II achieved just a few weeks ago at the 2012 Boston University Valentine Invitational.

Samantha Spindel (Brewster, N.Y.) finished 10th in the weight throw with a heave of 15.69, while freshman Elizabeth Bashir (Colchester, Conn.) and Aubrey Dowding (Warwick, R.I.) managed 11th and 12th in the shot put with tosses of 12.45 and 12.43 meters, respectively.

The Owls will be back in action for the ICAC Championships to be held in Boston, Mass. on March 3-4.
