Day One Meet Results

BOSTON, Mass. - Multiple members of the No. 7 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team either qualified in the top-8 of their respective event or finished with All-New England honors as day one ended at the New England Championships held in Boston, Mass. The Owls look to improve upon the program's first ever top-10 finish at New England's during the outdoor season of 2011. Men's track is currently tied for 11th place with five total points through four events scored.

Josh Perry finished first with a time of 1:50.66 in the 800 meters leading the way for two other Owls to finish within the top-8 of the event to claim All-New England honors. Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) and Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.) followed suit with a second and seventh place finish. All three student athletes rank within the top-25 in the nation in the 800 meters.

Connor Coleman (Gunnison, Colo.) managed a third place finish in the heptathlon with a score of 2786, followed by Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.) in fourth and Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) in seventh.

Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.) cleared a height of 4.75 meters to claim a fourth place finish in the pole vault and an All-New England selection for the second year in a row during the outdoor season his freshman year.

Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) and Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) were fourth and seventh, respectively, in the 400 meters to claim All-New England honors with times of 48.18 and 48.54.

The Owls will be back for day two of the New England Championships tomorrow morning.
