The No. 7 nationally ranked Owls rank among the nation's best in multiple events.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 7 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team ranks among the best in the nation in multiple events coming off their 19th straight Northeast-10 Conference Championship this past week. one of the newest addition to this week's updated 2011-12 NCAA Division II Indoor Qualifier List. Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.) is the top ranked student-athlete in the 800 meters this season improving upon his previous school record with a time of 1:49.20 at the Valentine Invitational held on Feb. 10th.

Logan Sharpe (Esperance, N.Y.) and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sharpe, Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.), Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Lumax are part of the national leaderboard this week.

Sharpe is eighth in the nation in the 400 meters with a time of 48.12 achieved at the Valentine Invitational held on Feb. 10th. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sharpe, Jean-Baptiste, Forth, and Lumax are the fourth best team in the nation holding a time of 3:14.31.

Nick LeBron (Newington, Conn.) managed a school record in the heptathlon with a score of 4946 at the Tufts Stampede on Feb. 4th and is sixth in the nation.

The DMR team consisted of Lumax, Sharpe, Brian Robbins (Bristol, Conn.), and Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) is currently third in the nation with a time of 9:50.62 and a school record achieved at the New Balance Invitational held on Feb. 3rd.

Perry holds the 10th best time in the one mile run and holds the school record with a time of 4:08.11 achieved at the Metropolitan Championships held on Jan. 24th.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Fred Boateng (Hamden, Conn.), Jean-Baptiste, Thomas Phommalinh (New Britain, Conn.), and Forth managed a nation's 17th best time of 3:17.24 at the Metropolitan Championships held on Jan. 24th.

Enis Bukalo (Derby, Conn.) improved upon his NCAA qualifying mark in the shot put from Jan. 7th with a heave of 16.19 meters to rank 23rd in the nation achieved at the Metropolitan Championships on Jan. 24th.

Perry and Robbins both rank within the top-18 in the 800 meters. Perry is third and Robbins is 18th in the nation with times of 1:51.71 and 1:53.78, respectively, accomplished at the 2012 Great Dane Classic held on Jan. 20th.

Akeem Elliott (Greater Portmore, Jamaica) is currently ranked 16th in the long jump coming off a NCAA qualifying mark of 7.19 meters at the UConn Winter Invite held on Jan. 7th.

Connor Coleman (Gunnison, Colo.) dropped one spot to 13th in the nation with a score of 4865. He claimed a second place finish in the heptathlon on day one of the Brother Jasper Invitational meet held on Dec. 9th. Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) is now ranked 23rd nationally coming off a third place finish at the same event with a score of 4743.

Nelson Laskoski (Pomfret Center, Conn.) holds the 14th best mark in the pole vault coming off a height cleared of 4.8 meters at the Fordham/Manhattan Tri-Meet held on Feb. 8th.

The Owls will be back in action this weekend to compete at the New England Championships in Boston, Mass. on Feb. 24-25.
