Perry Named Track Athlete of the Week by Northeast-10; Lebron, Lumax, Jean-Baptiste Selected to Weekly Honor Roll
NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Josh Perry (Naugatuck, Conn.) of the Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team was selected as Men's Track Co-Athlete of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference for his performance in the one mile run at the Metropolitan Championships held in Manhattan, N.Y. He shares the honors with Dominic Smith of American International.
Perry finished first in the one mile run with a time of 4:07.31 at the Metropolitan Championships. With this time, he cur¬rently stands alone as the top mile runner in Division II and broke one of the longest standing records for the Owls previously held by Chris Chisholm set in 1984.
Joining Perry with weekly honors,
Selasi Lumax (Somerset, N.J.),
Nick Lebron (Newington, Conn.) and
Stenson Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) made the Weekly Honor Roll.
On the final day of competition, Lumax claimed top honors in the 500 meters with a time of 1:03.17 edging out student athletes from St. Peter's and Fordham
Lebron finished first in the heptathlon event on day one of the Metropolitan Champion¬ships. He achieved an overall score of 2864 and finished within the top-3 of each individual event.
Jean-Baptiste helped the 4x400 meter relay team claim a first place spot and the fifth best time in the nation with a run of 3:15.64. He also claimed fourth in the 500 meters with a time of 1:05.18 at the Metropolitan Championships.
The Owls will be back in action scheduled to compete at both the Gigengack Invitational in New Haven, Conn. on Feb. 3-4 and the New Balance Invitational on Feb. 3-4 this upcoming weekend.
