Michelle Grecni broke the school record in the pole vault with a height cleared of 3.85 meters.

Manhattan, N.Y. - Michelle Grecni (Danbury, Conn.) of the No. 10 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team breaks the school pole vault record previously held by team captain, Kimberly Johnson (Lisbon, Conn.). She cleared a height of 3.85 meters en route to a first place finish on the first day of competition for the Metropolitan Championships held in Manhattan, N.Y. today. With her vault, Grecni is tied for the best vault in the nation with two other student athletes from Grand valley St. and Hillsdale.

Johnson managed to clear of height of 3.45 meters in the pole vault to claim third overall in the effort.

The Owls will be back in action tomorrow for day two of competition at the Metropolitan Championships.
