Brittany Brown named Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks this season.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Elizabeth Bashir (Colchester, Conn.), Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) of the Southern Connecticut State University women's indoor track and field team received top honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance at this past weekend's UConn Tri-Meet held in Storrs, Conn. Raysa Florentino (Groton, Conn.) and Titilayo Vanriel (Hartford, Conn.) joined their fellow teammates with weekly honor roll selections for this week. The Owls competed against fellow state schools: University of Connecticut and Central Connecticut State University. The Northeast-10 Conference selects individuals for achievements based on nominations from the athlete's respective school.

Bashir was named Field Rookie of the Week and claimed first place honors in the shot put with a heave of 12.39 meters at the UConn Winter Invitational. This is her first time receiving this award as an Owl.

Bell has been named Track Athlete of the Week to which she has held multiple times. She also managed a first place finish in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.31 seconds at the UConn Winter Invitational.

Brown is also a multiple time recipient of Field Athlete of the Week award and finished first with a time of 8.25 in the 55 meter hurdles and first in the high jump with a height cleared of 1.76 meters at the UConn Winter Invite. She also claimed first in the long jump with a leap of 5.75 meters. Brown's mark in the high jump was a new school record. Her tally in the long jump also vaulted her atop the Division II leaderboard for this year. She also had NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 55 hurdles and the high jump. Brown also moved to the No. 2 spot nationally in the high jump this year.

Florentino managed first place with a time of 1:01.2 in the 400 meter dash at the UConn Invitational.

At the UConn Winter Invitational, Vanriel claimed first in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:38.49.

The Owls will look to continue their success into this weekend's Yale Season Opener to be held on Jan 14th.
