Brittany Brown named Field Athlete of the Week for her double Qualifying marks in both the long jump and the 60 meter high hurdles.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Brittany Brown (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and Michelle Grecni (Danbury, Conn.) were selected to top honors for the first week of the 2011-2012 indoor track and field season. Brown was named Field Athlete of the Week for reaching two NCAA qualifying marks at the Yale Season Opener meet held on Saturday. Grecni was named Field Rookie of the Week by the Northeast-10 Conference for her first place finish in the pole vault at the same meet. The Northeast-10 Conference selects student-athletes that are nominated by their respective schools who excel each week and honor their accomplishments with the Weekly Honor Roll.

Brown reached two NCAA qual­ifying marks in both the long jump, at 5.68 meters, and the 60 meter high hurdles, with a time of 8.76. She also claimed third in the 200 meter dash at the 2011 Yale Season Opener. Grecni claimed first in the pole vault at her first event as an Owl. She managed to clear a height of 3.5 meters and beat out mul­tiple members of the Yale and St. Peter's teams.
 
Another member of the Owls was selected for the Weekly Honor Roll by the Northeast-10. Ashley Bell (Riverhead, N.Y.) placed first and reached a NCAA qualifying the mark in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.75 at the Yale Season Opener this past weekend. She was also part of the 4x400 meter relay team that placed first.

The Owls will be back in action for two meets this weekend. On Dec. 9-10, the Owls will travel to Manhattan, N.Y. for the Brother Jasper Invitational and on Sunday Dec. 11, they will host University for the James Barber & Wilton Wright Alumni Track and Field meet scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
