Stenson Jean-Baptiste managed a strong finishes in the 400 and 500 meter dashes today at Yale University.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's indoor track and field team opened the 2011-2012 season with their first meet at the Coxe Cage on the Yale University Campus today. The meet included a list of stellar performances from the Owls including first place finishes by Nicholas Fedor (Bethany, Conn.) in the weight throw, Justin Escaravage (Brookfield, Conn.) in the pole vault, and Diwani Augustine (Hartford, Conn.) in the 60 meter dash.

Sophomore Enis Bukalo (Derby, Conn.) claimed second in the shot put with a heave of 15.85 meters and fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.23 meters. Joining Bukalo in the top five of the shot put standings, Stephen Cappello (Milford, Conn.) was third.

In the 400 meter dash event, Logan Sharpe claimed second with a time of 48.75, while Twayne Forth (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Stephen Jean-Baptiste (Stratford, Conn.) were seventh and eighth, respectively.

Sophomore Connor Coleman (Guinnison, Colo.) claimed second overall in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.62.

The Owls managed to claim three of the top four spots in the 500 meter dash event falling just six hundreths of a second off the pace in second was Sharpe followed by Jean-Baptiste and Forth.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Escaravage, Coleman, Fred Boateng (Hamden, Conn.), and Jason Pulowski (Essex Jct., Vt.) were third in the event with a time of 3:29.99.

The Owls will be back in action next weekend for a Friday and Saturday meet in Manhattan, N.Y. for the Brother Jasper Invitational.
